Nubble at Night
July 25, 2015
2 days ago we decided to to head to Maine for the weekend. Not like us, we are planners by nature, so this was a big deal. The decision led to… well, plans. What part, what would we do, all that stuff. I had one request, I wanted to see the Nubble Lighthouse, I wanted to take a photo of it. I saw it once many years ago when I worked up here, but those days there was no dailypic, there was no camera in my hand. So, past that, I was good for anything. We set a course to Portland Head Light, that led us to 2 Lights, then Bug Light, then a Portland Harbor Cruise, then the most expensive dinner the 4 of us have ever had at the Lobster Cove in York – it was worth it. Then at 10pm, in complete darkness, I made it to Nubble Light, while the family was in a food coma in the car, I mounted the camera to the tripod, found the cable release, made my way by flashlight to the rocky shore across from the light. One test for focus, then one 4 minute, 30 second exposure later, I left with this shot. I consider the trip a success, and I still have another day to go. I added one more shot I got from the cruise of Portland Head Light.

As I look at the Hubble tonight, It looks like a painting! Just awesome!
Beautiful picture/
Your picture of the Nubble Lighthouse is absolutely beautiful! I love lighthouses. Took a tour years ago around Narraganset Bay. We didn’t get to take the entire tour as the boat was having trouble and we turned back early.
