Lost power, snowblower broke, but in the end, it is still pretty.

Hold on out there… it’s crazy.

It is cold and there is snow. Happy January.

Unless you have a “Winter” Dog you might not know how hard it is to get them to come inside when it is cold and snowy out. Josie was born for the snow, ice, cold. The second the temperature drops, she is beaming, hides in the yard – as well as a 100lb dog can in hopes that we will not see her and make her come inside. Tomorrow’s storm will mean, she sits at the window and whines until some one lets her out… then she runs back to the door in hope you too will go out and play with her. One of my favorite memes (what a stupid word) is the “reminder” about not letting your dogs stay out in the cold, then underneath is a picture of a Berner that says “Bitch, please”. Snow is her element. If only I could get her to shovel while she was out there. There is not an inch of my back yard that will not have a happy paw prints on it by the end of the day tomorrow.

As the storm wound down yesterday I posted a request for addresses in Medway. 95 addresses later I was driving around collecting house photos. I did not complete the list, time and logistics let me get 25, all but one (the way I shot it a square version would not work) are in this collage. I look forward to doing more projects like this.
For another project, below is the time lapse I shot during the Blizzard, enjoy.

I went out around town in the storm. The timelapse ran all day, then we lost power. I will see how it came out and add a link if it did tomorrow. Until then, enjoy these winter snow scenes from Medway.

Late last night and early this morning there was a great show in the sky. I caught some.

I did not pick this title, my wife did, I want to be on record… not my choice. I groaned when she said it. The shot below was a runner up for the day, I think it is boring, but again I had to listen to her, she said I should share it. I guess I have no power here today – to be honest not really anywhere today, maybe she had a point. It is almost like this day has brought me down.

And the water came down.

So, to make up for no Toy Wednesday this week… here is Legoboy having what probably is a normal day for all of us in the North East. Get ready for Sunday, and next Wednesday, and…

More from the yard full of snow.

It did not happen all at once, but I remember specific incidents that led to the death of my childhood. Death might be harsh, but there is a time when I recall there being no “adult things” to get in the way of fun in the winter. And then gradually… I learned of horrible stupid, responsibilities that just suck any chance of enjoying certain events to the fullest. The one that sticks in the memory banks the most is shoveling the roof. I really thought it was a joke. I can understand shoveling the walks and driveway, even as a kid that makes sense, but what kills any chance of enjoying a good storm is the roof thing. So, you mean I got to get on a ladder, then the roof and put the snow on the ground? Any kid would tell you – “Just let it melt!”. It is even closer to the sun… melting is what it should do. But no, I could get Ice Dams… another winter soul killer. The name sounds kind of cool, something you would want to build as a kid and jump your sled over. Nope, Ice Dams destroy your house… and I guess your childhood innocence too. Mr. Andersen, my neighbor told me about all this crap. I honestly thought he was on his roof to jump into the giant pile of snow, and I wanted in, so I rushed over… then he explained it all, slowly taking ways to enjoy the storms. Stupid Ice Dams. I just want to barrel down a hill, jump my sled, but I can’t even do that anymore, my damn hip might break.
