First, this is NOT my puppy… This is Bernie, a great Medway family’s newest addition. My day was full of sessions, the first at 9:30 am at the park. A few minutes before, I was standing on the bridge at the park, and thoughts wandered to how this particular Saturday had been warm and unseasonably nice before. In 2020 it was just like today, blue skies, 70 degrees, the first Saturday of November. I remember it because that was the day we said goodbye – far too early – to my first Bernese Mountian Dog Josie. As that thought crosses my mind, I turn, and there is my first family, I see Mom first, and she says hi and “I hope you don’t mind, but we got a puppy yesterday and were hoping to get him in the photos.” Behind her with her two girls and husband is Bernie, 11 weeks old, fumbling towards me as only a Bernese puppy can. They knew I would not mind. I thank the family for their patience with me during this session. Not going to lie. It threw me off for a few moments. 15 minutes was not enough with Bernie – forget about the fact I was supposed to be working. I am so happy for them, I know they have had a Berner before, and they have met mine. I love knowing the town has one more around I can bump into now and then, especially as part of a lovely family. Moments happen for a reason, that moment of him flopping his way toward me balanced my day. That is all I can ask now and then. I can’t wait to see him as he grows.
