the dailypic 4150 yr12 133 Iceland Winter

A year ago I was preparing for a trip to Iceland. I left on March 1st came back on March 11th. I left without a clue about COVID, came back to a whole different world. I barely got off the island, and the world closes down behind me.

My trip never got its last breath. There is that ‘after vacation glow’ most big trips get. This breath was stolen. I got off the plane, the next day I was taking calls about canceling weddings, events, sessions. Not sure where my kids would be going to school, told to stay in my house, wiping groceries. Iceland was the furthest thing from my mind, and if I had the chance to think about it I would have said it hurt since the trip itself was incredible, to a place I love. So I let the photos sit, ignoring them but knowing they were there.

Last month I started working on the new photo site, I realized they need to be included. Tossed up a coming soon sign with no plan past that. This past weekend I sat with them all, showed them to my wife for the first time Saturday night, got excited about them again. Sunday I went through the whole trip from day one to day ten. Culled, edited, and published. Might be the longest I ever have waited to go through photos – I am a person who shares each day, so 11 months seems a tad late. So 337 days since I downloaded them I can now say finished. A few favorite mountainscapes, or enjoy the whole set by clicking here.

Also, photo page related, I am holding a raffle to get more eyes on the new website. Log in (I do ask for your email, only used for the site, never shared) and favorite 10 photos. You can make a set by clicking on the star icon on images you like – I see your choices on my end. On the next 4 Saturdays, I will draw three winners from those who have 10 starred- you’ll get an 8×10 from the favorites you choose. And one grand prize winner the last week will get a Canvas print. The winner notified by email. To see ALL the photos use this link, the Iceland photos count!
