
Before a session at the park, I always take a quick walk with the long lens to see if I can find birds. Today I had about 10 minutes, I thought about leaving the short lens on the camera and just head to the water from the lot, but I took a minute and added the 400mm giant lens on the camera. The second I closed the truck door the Blue Herron started at me. You see it if it is coming at you, like a low flying plane. 15 feet above me at the most. Far too close for the equipment I had, had I not changed the lens the photos would have been awesome. So I have some out of focus, “would/could’ve been shots”. They would have been great. The good news the Hooded Merganser was close enough for some shots in the pond later. Bad photos (as if you could not tell) below.
