Charles River Bank in Medway let me set up in their Community and Businesses Spotlight space for May. Plenty of samples of my work, coupons and a raffle for a Medway print. If you happen to be at the bank take a moment to check it out.

I finally feel like I am at a place to share this post. The barn is about done, and I love it. From original thought to today has been eight months, though I challenge this was thought about long before I knew the plan. It is a pre-engineered, pre-cut, color-coded post and beam building kit from Country Carpenters in Hebron, CT. I learned of them through my contractor, and it turns out there are two more barns in my town from Country Carpenters (and I believe there will be even more soon). My wife, dogs and I made the trip to Hebron last summer to check out what they offer. It is worth the drive. Bill was my contact there, he toured us around the property where they have five or so barns set up for display. You can pick out features you like, customize it to your needs and they get you plans and walk you through the process step by step. Incredible customer service, I paid to have them arrive with the delivery and work the first day with my builders. Two trucks, one crane and two guys from Country Carpenters showed up on November 27th at 8 am, by 4 pm I had a frame set up in my yard that resembled a barn.
After that my builders took over, Tucker Construction of Bellingham. Justin and his crew built an addition on my house a few years back. I knew they would do a great job, but this is over and above. The custom additions to the kit are incredible, the attention to detail, the craftsmanship, add in that a project like this is stressful even in the best of situations, Justin just keeps it all on track and by doing so kept me sane, or as sane as one could expect. If you want to get a feel for his work follow him on Instagram. The barn does not look this great without him, and I can not recommend his work enough.
In addition, I had excellent service from some other local Medway businesses, Dan O’DriscollLand Surveying Co. Jim Daniels of James Daniels Electric did an incredible job on the electrical, I have a ton of exposed walls and open studs being a barn and Jim made it look awesome. His attention to detail in the wires, seems simple but I have had so many compliments on how organized it all looks. To have lights and outlets where I need them and even more important not where I don’t need them is fantastic. And heating this place was not easy, but Mike of Total Comfort Solutions got me up, running and warm while working hard to stay within my budget. Thank you to everyone who had a part in this project, the results speak for themselves.
For those who are local and would like to see it all in person I am holding an open house this weekend. Saturday, March 2nd, 10-3. Stop on by, 19 Lincoln St. I will be shooting We Are Medway Photos, I will have Cuba, Iceland and other photos for sale and I am currently booking sessions in the new space.
Last, I did a time lapse, from the first day of the digging to the last boards were put inside. I think this should be called how to spend a ton of money in three and a half minutes. Check it out along with some more inside shots below.

I have always been fortunate to have a great relationship with some of the local news/media outlets in the area. I started my morning on MyFM’s 101.3 Morning Show with Ray Auger, who has always been supportive of my photography, then I come home to the local Country Gazette, who not only put me on the front page but did a portfolio and a full story on timricephoto and the upcoming Iceland Show (next Thursday 8/3). Safe to say, Josie was not impressed with either, but I appreciate the support from both, today and the many times prior.
Click here to listen to the MyFM interview here, Iceland, Movies and geek talk, enjoy.

The brand “Tim Rice Photo” is ten years old this year, I have had 12 cards in that time. The first had Anna & Danny on it, my Peace & Boy photo, followed by a few customers photos, once I had smoke, which made no sense, there is a card just for bands, a Lego card, a groom with his head cut off and a couple “compilations” cards. Lately they have had old cameras on them. I came across a stash while cleaning out my truck, I had a few of each in the glove box. Not sure why, but it is cool to see the progression of brand history. Like looking back at bad haircuts you did not realize weren’t that good when you had them.

I was excited to pick up my new signs today. I have two custom handcrafted wood signs from Medway’s Morningside Designs. They are awesome and will be hanging in the studio soon. Thanks to Pam at Morningside, check out their page, you can also see her work for sale next to mine at T.C. Scoops in Medway. We both will be there on February 12th for a Vendor Fair, stop by and get some great gifts for Valentines Day.

I found myself at the New England Patriots Rally this morning, camera in hand, freezing in the cold and loving every minute of it. It was awesome, I think after the rally I was pumped enough, I could win a Super Bowl… I would have to limp to the bus… well, first I would have to go home and get my pills and cane, then drive back and limp to the bus… never mind, I will stick to photos. Though there was a moment when football and photos met. It was quick, but I shared a moment with TB12. I was at the side of the podium, Ty Law (future Hall of Famer corner Ty Law) was speaking to the crowd and Tom was in the back row. He reaches into his coat, pulls out his phone, gets the camera ready, then looks right at me. There was a little nod, and then he snaps a pic of the crowd. The look and nod, it was like, “Cool camera you got there limpy, look what I can do with this phone.” The GOAT. It does not matter what he is doing. You can see my whole set by clicking here, I am not sure where Tom’s photo end up. Some highlights below.

The timricephoto Studio/Gallery is 2 years old and as busy as it has ever been. It is all set up right now for Holiday Photo Sessions. I am getting it ready for a huge OPEN HOUSE on Small Business Saturday 11/26, I even have one more Introduction to Photography Class before the holidays on 12/8 (Seats are available).
That’s not all, there will be additional Gallery openings between now and Christmas – plenty of photos for sale, I even open evenings on request if you want a private shopping opportunity. Family photos also make great gifts; I am booking sessions or selling gift certificates.
It looks good for a 3rd year for trp@243 – that’s what I like to call it, you know because it rhymes and the address is 243 Village St, you can call it that if you want, it is not on the sign though, the sign says tim rice photo, in case I move someday – purely a business decision, and I am cheap. But yes, more in 2017, more family photos, more classes, more open houses, just more.
Thank you to anyone that has come by, hope to see everyone – but not all at once it is not that big – at the Open House 11/26. Tons of great photos for sale, I will have a bunch of give aways as door busters too!

A Look Back
December 31, 2015
I have said before and still believe it to be true, it is not how each day was filled, it is that the year was filled with each day. Just by collecting them all, it is a successful year. I do my best to use each second as best I can. Some are great, some are crap, this is how it works, but I am lucky to have the ones I get. At the end of the year I try not to look back and think of what to change. I am not a resolution type of guy, I like to work on objectives, goals, things that obtainable. 2015 had a few, I wanted to be in more photos, I did. I wanted to work more efficiently and spend quality time with my my family, I did. I wanted to be better at letting things go, I think I did – this one may roll over.
I do love to look back though, look through the memories I captured. I just spent time with my wife going through photos I took in 2015. I clicked the shutter over 60K times, this is up 2K from 2014. Though thanks to one of those objectives, I am willing to bet they were better this year than last. The emotions ranged from sadness – with a smile – while seeing the last photos of my beloved pet. Humor and pride, as we looked at the difference 12 months can make as my son became an adult. Awe, as I see my daughter drive away alone for the fist time, and own the stage as she danced. Pure joy, as I see the miles, trips and time I shared with my family from Maine to San Francisco. And honor for being part of not only my friends lives, but clients too, all of which allow me to capture memories for them.
I collect moments, it is what I do and I love doing it. I hope your moments were all you wanted them to be. The dailypic is a “Look Back” I took as we left NYC, the rest of the 240 are ones that I wanted to share from 2015. Happy New Year to you all, thank you for looking. No matter how your 2015 was, I wish you all a tomorrow.
