Lunch today was from Anne’s Market in Norfolk – and it was awesome. A quick ride from the house. Asked the dogs if they wanted to go for a ride, one ran and hid, the other bolted to the truck. Back roads let Argus enjoy some (limited) solo window time. To be that happy about anything.

Would you believe me if I told you one of these is not a real dog?

These two.

Just 118lbs of pure joy, we call him Argus.

In fairness to Josie she had a few shots in the studio today.

So I find myself without my computer for a few days, it is off to the mac people for some repairs. I have other means of computing, but I am a creature of habit, so without my lightroom software and all that I figure we can live off the phone for a day or two. Argus responds better to the phone anyway, he tends to shy away from my large camera. Here he is posing for me this afternoon in the nice light. He turned 10 months old yesterday, he is just about 100lbs, short but takes up a ton of space, kind, gentle and a lap dog. He is the sweetest creature I have ever had the pleasure of sharing a house with, no offense to Josie, but he really is just pure love. Where Josie is more friendly and dare say smarter, Argus is just a huge, happy, fluffy goof.

No matter what you think about snow, you have to smile when your 7 month old Bernese Mountain Dog, who is bred for cold weather, discovers snow for the first time. Pure innocence and joy. He just sat there and watched it come down, put his tongue out to catch some, then watched it fall more. Then his sister came out and showed him how fun it is to run and jump in… we will never get him back in the house again.

Posing these two… this is the best we get right now.

A trip north to loom at some lighthouses. Started in New Castle Island, NH and made it to Portland, ME. Only saw a handful, it was more about getting away for a day. Might had seen more but we took the dogs with us, and that is a huge ordeal, we are stopped every 10 feet with requests to pat, talk with, take photos of the dogs. “the tall one is female, Josie, 93lbs, 2.5 years old, the ‘little’ one isArgus, he is a puppy, 6.5 months old… no really, yes a puppy. Yes, we are aware he will only get bigger, no it is not her puppy, they are half-siblings, yes they do eat a lot, yes their crap is enormous, yup… they shed, really you knew someone who had one and it died, they do get along, it does look like they are smiling…” move 10 feet, repeat… not complaining at all, they bring joy to everyone who sees them. I let my wife do most the talking, and I send the drone off to get photos, like the one above. That is Ram Island Ledge Light is a lighthouse in Casco Bay, Maine, and favorite of mine that you can see from Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. We also saw Whale-back Light, Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse, Bug Light, Nubble Light but it was under construction and a few other stops on some beaches.

Can you hear the Chariots of Fire music? A quick trip to Maine for the day, tune in tomorrow for lighthouse photos.

One will pose nicely for photos, one tends to be an a@@.
