Twenty-eight mini sessions at the studio today, long day but so many cute photos. I can’t share many since they are going to be used for Holiday cards, but Siren did not mind.

Madelynn and big brother Lukas came to the studio yesterday for some photos, smiles all around, at least when we were inside.

It has been four years this week since I got the keys to my studio. It snowed that day too, today was a bit more, but snow still. Hundreds of sessions have gone through this studio in that time, with about 50 more on the books to still go. Then at the end of next month, I pack up and move to the new location. The night I looked at this place to see if it was worth renting, I remember saying to Dan, “wrong size, not the ideal layout, ceilings are too low, but I think I am going to get it.” It was the right step at the right time, served it’s purpose and will be missed. Though I am looking forward to that new barn. Foundation is in, and the build happens in 10 days. You can see the progress so far in the link below. Stay tuned for more progress reports. In the meantime, I have a few Holiday mini sessions spots open at the 243 Village St. Location, click here to see/sign up if interested.

I met sweet Olivia tonight when Mom and Dad brought her into the studio. She is one month old and adorable. I look forward to seeing her again, next time with her siblings.

This evening I was visited by Brownie Troop 62490 of Medway. We talked about photography, they had many great questions, we took pictures with toys they brought in, and we got this group shot so they could join the We Are Medway Project. Thank you to their leaders for arranging the tour, it’s always fun to have guests at the studio.

“When will you be in the project?” Common question, and since I am trying to convince others (easier said than done) to sit in my studio and get their photo taken, I guess I need to practice what I preach. A few weeks back I decided when I get to #0100 I would like it to be me. I also decided I wanted #0099 to be Ben Bennett, it took some conversations, but he agreed to not only sit for the project but to take my photo. I have known Ben for a long time, as many in Medway do. In my book he is the Medway Photographer. When I bought my first business he was one of the first calls I made. I honestly think I called him the second day I was in business, June 8th, 1996, to ask him a question about passport pictures. He came up to the shop and we talked photo and had many visits after that. He photographed my engagement photos, my wedding, my kids, so it made sense he shoot this photo. I am honored to have him in the project and to have, what will most likely be the only photographer other than me, taking one of the photos. So if two photographers who are completely outside their comfort zone on the other side of the camera can have their picture taken, so can you. Think of it as being part of something that I hope will be looked back on decades from now, the more of us who are in it, the more powerful the message. I even have a chance for you to join in, this Saturday, September 8th, 9-1 at my studio. Stop by, 5 minutes, no cost, a quick survey is the hardest part and it is done. You can be part of Medway’s history. Click here for the event info
Check out the whole set so far.

Tim Rice #0100
Date: September 5, 2018, Age: 44, Lifelong Medway Resident (minus a couple), Medway Business Owner: Current – Tim Rice Photo, Past – The Photo Shop One Hour Film Lab, Occupation: Photographer. “My parents moved to Medway after they were married and I was raised here. I bought a business in the shopping plaza developing film at 22 years old right out of college. I married a townie girl and fellow graduate of the MHS class of ‘91. We were married next to Lobisser’s cow farm in 1997 and have raised our family here. Two kids, one a MHS ’17 grad, one a future grad in ‘19. I have seen and documented many changes in this town, I embrace the change for at its core this is a strong community with people who are proud and passionate to be here. I have been a coach and director for Youth Baseball, currently am on the board for Medway Cable and Medway Christmas Parade and can be found at many events and around town taking photos. NOTE: Benny Bennett #0099 in this project, took my photo, just as he has many times prior, including my wedding. It seemed right he be the one to take it for me so I could be part of this collection.
Benny Bennett #0099
Date: September 5, 2018, Age: 73, Lifelong Medway Resident, Medway Business Owner: Bennett Photography, Occupation: Retired. “I became a part of the community, sometime over 70 years ago, when I was born here. My father served on the Medway Fire Department for many years. Both my parents worked in town for a lot of their lives. I graduated Medway High in 1963 and went on to work at General Motors. Back in the early 80s I developed a love of photography and videography. I learned techniques, the technology and video edit programs, which were very different at the time – eventually starting Bennett Photography. I shot weddings, families and reunion photos of people from the Medway community for more than 25 years. I’ve had a lifelong interest in cars, especially classics like my 1961 Pontiac Bonneville. I raised two daughters, Tracy and Pamela, in Medway and continue to live here with my wife Sandy.”
A few weeks back one of my We Are Medway participants, Liam McDermott, suggested we take a photo of the admins of The Friends of Medway Facebook page for the project. Friends of Medway is one of those town Facebook pages, ‘lost dog, need a recommendation, have you seen what happened to, when is the road going to be finished’ type of pages. Like a modern day local water cooler with over 10K people hanging around it. Like it or not, these places are part of our fabric now, and since We Are Medway is just a history project waiting to get old, I think it made perfect sense to represent it somehow. And as I have had business owners in the studio, I believe the creator of Friends of Medway should be the one to represent it, Andrea Bosworth. Sadly and tragically, Andrea was taken last year far too early. I was approached last week by the Admins of her page saying they would be happy to be included in the project, as long as we could tie it to Andrea. I could not have agreed more. Tonight four out of the five admins joined me at the studio, and here we have entry #0077 Friends of Medway into the We Are Medway Project.

Date: August 9, 2018, Medway Resident, Andrea Bosworth passed away in 2017 at 38 as the result of a tragic accident. Andrea was a mother of three, a teacher at Nipmuc Regional High School, a triathlete, and creator of the Facebook page Friends of Medway. Friends of Medway has grown from being a little corner of the internet for Andrea and her friends to (as the description states) “A place for residents or friends of Medway, MA to connect, share experiences, make recommendations, ask questions, etc. It’s a place where together we can help make our town and our community stronger.” I would challenge it is much, much more. Love it or not, it is part of the fabric that makes up the town, and part of Andrea’s legacy. Since her passing, the reigns of the page have been handed off to some of her relatives and close friends, who watch over the page and honor her wishes: “I want to keep it a friendly place.” Some of those hands are in this photo, holding her up for this picture. Courtney Weed, Stephanie Prentice, Rich Eustis, Michael Callahan, not pictured Meghan Taylor.
We Are Medway #0067 is ‘The Machine’ Jesse Green, renaissance man with a chain saw. Chainsaw Sculptor, Motivational Speaker, Author, TV Star, Band Leader and Medway Resident. He stopped by the studio with the largest chainsaw I have ever seen for a quick photo. You can check out his and the other 66 (or so) We Are Medway participants here. If you want to join the project, all the info is on that page under FAQs, or just contact me the more the better!
Jesse’s Bio for the project:

We shot our TV show, AMERICAN CHAINSAW here, which was seen worldwide in Fall primetime on The National Geographic Channel and can still be seen on all streaming services. Our daughter was born here. I have a forthcoming trilogy book series called CHAINSAWS, CHEESEBURGERS AND ROCK N’ ROLL, THE MOST EPIC STORY EVER TOLD that takes place in Medway. I front one of Boston’s most sought-after cover bands, Fevah Dream. I’m a motivational speaker. Gleek had the bucket, without the bucket, let’s face it the twins are worthless. At least Zan, he would be water on the ground, sitting there as a puddle doing nothing while Jayna flew away. #teamgleek
