As I travel more these days, I find myself identifying more as a New Englander than as a Bay Stater when asked where I am from. As the world gets smaller I enjoy being part of the larger region that I have been exploring my whole life. So I was excited to add my New New England Flag to the barn. Picked up at New England Sketchbook last weekend on my trip North. My old friend Corey Prince owns this incredible shop in Newburyport, MA—a place dedicated to celebrating and promoting New England items, artists, and history. One of the items I have had my eye on since it arrived in the shop was this New England Flag. Yes, New England has its own flag – you can check out the story here. It is now a great addition to my studio. Made by New England Flag & Banner, the oldest flag company in the area, they make the banners for the Bruins, Celtics, and all the banners for the Red Sox dating back to 1903. It could not be more New England if it tried. Check out Corey’s shop online, or the next time you are in Newburyport hit up the shop. The flag may or may not be there – I grabbed the third one left, so supply is limted, but either way, there are plenty of other New England pieces to enjoy. And be sure to say hello to the man himself, pictured below.
