the dailypic 4467 yr13 084 Reyka For Christmas

Christmas came a couple of days early here, it turns out the only thing we want for Christmas is a healthy Reyka. Reyka is eleven months old this week and lives life dialed to TEN. Pure puppy, happy, excited for everything, devilish, you get the idea. Then Tuesday came. She woke that morning at a noticeable SIX. By the end of the day, she was maybe a concerning THREE or TWO. Some calls and texts to the best vet on the planet Dr. Mansfield of Medway Animal Hospital, and she was being seen that night. A quick visit in hopes of just ruling some stuff out until morning turned into something wrong. Possibly a mass, something was not right with the spleen. For sure, we needed more info. It’s been barely a year since we lost Josie to cancer at four years old. We could not believe we were heading this way again with another dog so soon and even younger. Dr. Mansfiled sent all the info to Tufts, and they got in yesterday morning first thing with hopes to get her scanned as quickly as it was possible. She was in the right place. After a few hours, we get a call, not cancer. She has a splenic torsion. Spleen came out. She stayed overnight, and today is doing great. I got to pick her up, as she came out of the hospital, head in a cone, bandages all over, she was more herself than the last time I saw her. She was at a TWELVE, ready to go home with me. So to celebrate, we Christmas’d up her cone for a photo and gave her a Santa hat. She’s on drugs and doesn’t care as long as she is home. The roughest part of it all was sitting in the Tufts parking lot, watching families come out after leaving a pet behind. One couple came out distraught. I could tell their pet was not coming home again. So heartbreaking, made the moment she walked out the door that more emotional, hug your pets for me for Christmas. Thank you to Dr. Mansfield and her team at Medway Animal Hospital and Tufts for my early Christmas present.
