Choate’s Winter Light
February 5, 2016
In between working at my kitchen table, losing power, taking care of driveways in the neighborhood, including mine, fixing the snowblower, I escaped to Choate Park to grab some snow photos. I had no idea what I was going to witness. I force light all the time, especially in the snow, there are many photographers that will not take a shot unless the light is perfect, I am not one of them. Every moment deserves it’s time, I consider it a challenge. There are shots below from when it was overcast, but I love the contrast, then I took my tripod and put it in Chicken Brook to get the stream shot… then it all changed, the sun hit the horizon the clouds parted and the light arrived. I was in awe, these photos do not do it justice. For a few minutes I just stood there and took it in, I chase light, it is what I do… this was the nicest light I have ever seen. It was like a blanket. I looked around to see who was sharing this with me, but I was alone. It was beautiful. The photos that look black and white were taken 15 minutes prior to the ones that have the color. It is amazing how everything can change. And after that it turned pink, purple and other colors all equally amazing, but I had to get back to reality. I will just enjoy these.
