The printhouse part of the studio is running at capacity these days (and nights). I am very busy making prints of all the school, sports, and daycare photos, with some family photos sprinkled in here and there. About 80% of my yearly printing happens in two months, stretching over September and October. I get a strange satisfaction from it. It feels like my old One Hour Photo lab days.

I upgraded one of the printers this past summer in preparation. Printers and I have always had a love-hate relationship, and this one seems no different. I have found there is no such thing as a perfect printer. To get what you want, you need to give something else up. I feel it is a conspiracy among the designers. This one has its benefits. One of them is that the paper is roll-based, so I can let it run without needing to constantly feed it.

The remnants are these solid cardboard cores that I feel need to have a second life. I just pile them up as they become empty. I am not a hoarder, but sometimes things don’t want to leave me and demand I find a use for them.

I will see how many I collect before I finally give up.
