It’s been a while since I’ve been on a toy photo kick, one of the most requested themes I get asked about. I know it has been a while. For those who might be newer to following me, I used to photograph a lot of toys. The photos live at this link. It was a great way to fill the dialypic when I could not find something to add, and it taught me a ton about photography. Lighting, lenses, and techniques, I practiced and learned a lot from taking fun photos of toys. It also helped that my kids were younger, and toys were everywhere.
Well, plenty of toys and figures are still around, and I missed them. This one might be a new favorite, at least a recent favorite. Even this photo was a new lighting technique for me. It seems like these two would be friends. I got a gift card to Newbury Comics for Christmas, browsed the store the other day, and found a 40th-anniversary figure of ET on the discount table, and this idea came to mind. The good news I needed to find the base grass for this photo, I knew I had it somewhere as a prop. It was buried in one of the toy bins I have stored, while looking for it, I found even more toys that deserve to be dailypics. More toy photos to come, and if you have toys you want to be photographed, I am always open to requests.
