New year new headshot, that’s a thing I hear a lot this time of year. Well, every January, I say I will change up my headshot offerings. I have notebooks, saved links, and folders, all different techniques, styles, and ways to change the simple headshot. So for a slow Sunday morning, I decided to throw some of those “other” techniques into my own recipe and see what I get. Here is the result of my first attempt at what I have named in the notebook ‘2023 1light DDTM Dewis Edit’. I have used one light for headshots before in a few different ways. DDTM is short for ‘Deep Dark Truthful Mirror’, referencing the song by Elvis Costello. I had come across a photo of Elvis a few months back that I loved (and can’t find right now) that really kicked me into gear on trying something different, and even though this photo is edited, I find it to be a truthful mirror. And for some of those edits, I used some tips from an excellent English photographer/retoucher Glyn Dewis. Mix them up with my styles, and here we go: 2023 1light DDTM Dewis Edit – Subject TRP.

Not sure, but would you like some “fava beans and a nice chianti….?”
It’s a great head shot!
