Meet my new neighbors, Meg and Chris. I have meant to relaunch the We Are Medway Project, and they seemed perfect for the task. Meg and Chris moved into Betty’s house. Betty was the first person in the We Are Medway Project one year ago. She has since moved to assisted living, but is doing well. I have been printing and revamping the project’s website over the last week, and even though I thought I would have more a year later, it is incredible what I have. This town is full of so many stories and remarkable people. Due to the new studio, some other obstacles and well to be honest me just pushing it aside for a bit the project was kind of on hold since the end of last year. That is changing; I have a better system to keep up to date, the improvements to the delivery of it are going to help, and I have printed all the photos out I have so far and seeing them in a binder as a book is inspiring to me. It reminds me of why I was doing this. The goal is to get 1713 entries, for the year of incorporation of the town. The goal is simple, capture the people who make up my community during this time of revitalization of my town. New parks, new roads, new people, tied with our history, the “townies” and all in between. Over the last year, I have tried to explain who should be in the project. Medway, whether your family has been here for generations, or you just moved in like Meg and Chris. Even if you just work here, are connected to the town in any way. You deserve to be part of this project. You can check out the decision tree below.
The We Are Medway Project will be on display at Celebrate Medway Day, July 20th at Thayer House from 3-5:30pm. I will have all the profiles of those I have on display for you to check out, and for the last hour 4:30-5:30 I plan on taking photos of those who want to take part. Even before then I will hold an opn house at my studio this coming Sunday 11-3 for We Are Medway photos. No appointment needed, only takes a few minutes and is free. drop me a note if you have any questions or want to know more. I hope my fellow Medway people will take advanatge of this, think of it as a history project, this is for 100 years from now, a time capsule of who is in the town for people to look back on.

Through Ancestry.com I learned that my 5th Great Grandmother Catherine Ellis was born in Medway in 1750 and married to Nathaniel Sawyer in 1771 in Medway. Her father was Abner Ellis (1716-1773) and her mother was Mary Partridge (1726-1826). They were married in Medway in 1747. Mary’s mother Elizabeth Learned was born in Framingham, but died in Medway in 1738. This leads me to believe that my ancestors were in fact original settlers of the town of Medway. Does this qualify me for your project?
