Last night I spent part of my evening in the back of a helicopter flying over Boston. This was a reunion with some friends I went to Cuba with. Not sure how many attempts were made over the last few months, I think this might have been the sixth date we had scheduled. The weather has not been the most cooperative this spring, but in the end, it was worth the wait. In a helicopter smaller than my ’93 Geo Metro, no doors, strapped in with two cameras and not much room to move, we toured the Boston sky. At times reaching 100 mph, 1000 feet, Fenway, the Citgo sign, the Prudential, Common, State House, Zakim, even the new Encore monstrosity (I got opinions) was visible. It went from dusk to dark over our short trip. Awesome time all around, and needs to have a follow up very soon. Thanks to Kostas for setting this up, Don for being my partner in the tuna can and Nick from Blue Hill Helicopters in Norwood for keeping us safe and with plenty of opportunities to shoot the cameras.
