A few weeks back one of my We Are Medway participants, Liam McDermott, suggested we take a photo of the admins of The Friends of Medway Facebook page for the project. Friends of Medway is one of those town Facebook pages, ‘lost dog, need a recommendation, have you seen what happened to, when is the road going to be finished’ type of pages. Like a modern day local water cooler with over 10K people hanging around it. Like it or not, these places are part of our fabric now, and since We Are Medway is just a history project waiting to get old, I think it made perfect sense to represent it somehow. And as I have had business owners in the studio, I believe the creator of Friends of Medway should be the one to represent it, Andrea Bosworth. Sadly and tragically, Andrea was taken last year far too early. I was approached last week by the Admins of her page saying they would be happy to be included in the project, as long as we could tie it to Andrea. I could not have agreed more. Tonight four out of the five admins joined me at the studio, and here we have entry #0077 Friends of Medway into the We Are Medway Project.

Date: August 9, 2018, Medway Resident, Andrea Bosworth passed away in 2017 at 38 as the result of a tragic accident. Andrea was a mother of three, a teacher at Nipmuc Regional High School, a triathlete, and creator of the Facebook page Friends of Medway. Friends of Medway has grown from being a little corner of the internet for Andrea and her friends to (as the description states) “A place for residents or friends of Medway, MA to connect, share experiences, make recommendations, ask questions, etc. It’s a place where together we can help make our town and our community stronger.” I would challenge it is much, much more. Love it or not, it is part of the fabric that makes up the town, and part of Andrea’s legacy. Since her passing, the reigns of the page have been handed off to some of her relatives and close friends, who watch over the page and honor her wishes: “I want to keep it a friendly place.” Some of those hands are in this photo, holding her up for this picture.
