April 7, 1968 these two were married, today we celebrated. We had a combined party, 50th Anniversary for my parents and a wedding reception for my brother and sister in law, who got married last winter. The distance between the photo my parents are holding and the one they are in is incredible. That’s a lot of life, three kids, 5 grand-kids, trips, moves, illnesses, celebrations, hell… me for 44+ years, so much. My siblings and I were trying to recall stories of their wedding, what was their song, stuff like that, and it is strange we do not know a lot about their wedding day. Just some photos, I know some passing stories over the years, but to us they have just always been married. I have learned many things from them, but the lesson that jumps out the most is, they have taught me what a marriage should be. It is not always perfect, it has its ups and down, but they always did what they had to make sure the family was taken care of, and we were all happy and loved no matter what. And now I am heading towards 21 years married and they are still my example. I was asked many times today “Can you believe they have been married 50 years?” My answer each time was “yes, yes I can believe it”. Here is to 50 more. Congratulations to you Mom and Dad and thank you, hope you enjoyed the day.
