A few weeks ago I asked my daughter, where I should take her mother for a trip. Her answer was, “Anywhere without your camera.” Well, that is not going to happen anytime soon. I told Barbara this today and she laughed. She claims she enjoys being with me when I find these shots. I told her she needs a blog of her own: The Photographers Wife, insight on the shoots and trips.
A couple things you may or may not know, first, she has taken a trip with me where I did not have a (decent) camera. It was 20 years ago, it resulted in her buying my first SLR that really started it all. Second, she also takes photos on these trips. She uses my Sony RX100 pocket camera. She gets down on the ground, treks through the woods and battles for her own shots. Many I sneak up behind and shoot the same thing that normally I might have missed. I will even add a link to her shots from today below. Last, I think she gets amused watching me get old with the camera in my hand.
Today’s dailypic involved me climbing over a railing, slipping down some rocks and trying to balance on the ledge of a 30 foot drop. She was kind enough to remind me 50 times not to fall, but once it was over I sure got some wise ass comments about getting back up. The funny thing is 20 years ago I would not have thought to take this shot. I would have been happy with the straight on photo of the waterfall from below. But now, with a beat up knee and nowhere near the flexibility as I once had, now I need to get to those “impossible to reach” spots. I got a cane as a gag gift for my birthday; it would have been nice to have today, it might become part of the photo gear I travel with. Not really sure how I am going to get one of those old people “larks” to these locations in another 20 years. Of course below are some more from today’s adventure.
