the dailypic 4254 yr12 236 Nauthúsagil Waterfall

This is one of the moodiest waterfalls I have ever seen. It was by chance that I went to it. It is off the beaten path, and that is saying something in Iceland. To the point, I had to convince myself to get out of the van when I got there due to “the getting there” being so frustrating. It was later than I wanted it to be. It was in a different direction from where I was heading to camp, and I got trapped on the road I should not have taken. Then once I got through the steps of frustration, I made the trek in, and it was incredible, like two mountains that separated just a bit to let water through. Splashed with light. This is not even the main falls, and this is right before it. If you look on the left wall, you can see a chain. To get to the main fall at the top, you climb the small one using that chain, hugging the wet rocks. A little girl is making the climb on the photo on the sign out front. I call BS. I tried but decided against it. I had too much gear, I was the only one there, and there is in the middle of nowhere, and my daughter gave me one thing to do while I was here, “don’t fall and die alone.” This could have been one of those moments. Though I might go back tomorrow more prepared, that little girl in the photo is taunting me.

Not sure if last nights Plane photo sent by email if you subscribe. So here it is again: https://timricephoto.com/archives/63194
