19 years ago I bought these figures… today I took them out of the package. McFarlane Beatles Yellow Submarine Action Figures from 1999. I bought them at Rubber Chicken Comics, I remember they ordered them for me, I took them home in the box they were shipped in. I then moved them to my first house, then to my second then to the studio. Today I was looking for something else and came across them, still in that original shipping box, still in their packages. A quick check online to see they are worth about what they were 19 years ago, 1 minute later, 4 opened packages and John Paul George and Ringo are under the lights and posing. These things suck to stand, top heavy, awkward feet, George was the only one to cooperate, in the dailypic he is actually offering enough support to keep all the rest from falling backwards. Not sure what my end goal was when I bought them, I am smart enough to know I will never get rich collecting toys, but you think I would have ripped open those boxes sooner. I think this leaves me with one “toy” left in original packaging, a first wave Lego dual pack of Slave 1 and a Land Cruiser. I am one slow weekend from cracking those open too.

Thank you to all who stopped by the studio today for the toy open house. We had Elephants from 1901, twin Teddy Bears, Yellow Submarine Beatles Legos, awesome Monkeys and even a pouty looking Batman. Stay tuned for more open houses, and if you have anything you would like photographed please contact me, I would love to hear from you.

I miss Johnny… I loved watching him with the kids, maybe a few times when they left the TV and and left the room too. In hindsight, the kids should probably not have watched it.

One year has passed and the only thing we all can agree on is… one year has passed. Though, I am sure we can find someone to argue my point, or maybe the grammar – I should has said ‘past’ not ‘passed’, or technically when I wrote this is was a day short of a year… go ahead find what you want to argue with me about, feel free to type it up, print it and I will try to swing by and grab it before another year has past. Really all I wanted to do was have an excuse to shoot my Trump action figure again and I started a fight with myself… thanks Obama.

October 18th 1997 these two figures sat atop a wedding cake. I have no memory of eating that cake. or how Barbie lost an arm.

There was a life sized paper mache/cardboard version of R2D2 at the North School, my Elementary School, in Ms. Seidler’s Art room. It was on the top of the cabinets in a common area, out of reach, but on display. It was so awesome. I have no idea who made it, must had been some older kids, Star Wars was at it’s peak this was 1980ish. I remember staring at it every time we had art, it was my friend Brian who told me a guy operated R2D2 in the movie, he was a tiny guy and he sat in the droid to make it move and speak. No way there was a guy… I did not believe him for the longest time. I wanted to, that would be an awesome job, being R2D2, how cool would that be… I would sit and stare trying to picture a person in that paper mache version in art class. Rest in Peace Mr. Baker. I am glad you were real.

“Alright, I’ve run out of patience, underoos!!” …and like that Tony Stark introduced Spider-man to a new universe. “Hey Everyone.” Can’t wait for the movie.
