It was day one of this trip in the Highlands. It was an incredible day. Most of it was spent in awe of the visible layers and the hues of blue. It was hard to drive without stopping every few yards. I have photos of the four peaks in the back from multiple directions. This was one of the last of the day. It is called Vatnaöldur, from Wikipedia: Craters that were formed during a series of eruptions associated with a basaltic dyke intrusion from the volcanic system of Bárðarbunga around the year 877 (correct, the year has three digits). I will be back in a different part of the Highlands tomorrow.
