the dailypic 5226 yr15 113 Litli-Hrútur Eruption

July 29th I went to Iceland (trip 1 of 2 in 2023). I got off the plane and hiked 6.5 miles to see the Litli-Hrútur eruption in the Reykjanes Peninsula. I posted a drone photo from that day back then, but I have not gone back to the photos until today. Catching up on personal photos that all go to the side during the busy season. The eruption seemed slow that day, well worth the hike, but not the spectacle I witnessed in 2021. Five days after this visit, the volcano went dormant. I was lucky, considering it was a trip that was booked the week I went on a whim. There were plenty of people around just taking it in, many closer than people should have been, even climbing on the lava. The helicopters were crazy, all fighting for airspace over the crater. Seemed there was a new gang every 10 minutes or so, giving me enough time between to get the drone up. The few drone videos I found in my set of photos are below. Next for my catch-up in photos will be the rest of my photos from my October trip to Iceland.
