Today was the 11th annual Alex Handy 5k. The Medway Secondary Parent Teacher Organization (MSPTO) runs this race at the VFW. The event and charity honor Alex Handy of Medway, a 13-year-old who was struck and killed while crossing Rte. 109 in 2006. Project Alex has raised over $250,000 since it started. In addition to sponsoring crossing signs and blue crosswalks around town, Project Alex promotes safety by giving away bike helmets and offers scholarships to local students. There was a great turn out of support for this event, you can check out all the photos from the race here.
