Show Night
January 31, 2013

My kids are my heroes. The stuff they do, they way the act, the people they are, I look up to them, there are times I am even jealous of them. This is one of those times. Danny, my youngest is part of his grade’s chorus and tonight was their winter concert. I have heard about this concert for months.  It was the first thing added to the new 2013 calendar last December, along with the after school rehearsal last week.  The boy (as I refer to him) had practiced, prepared and was ready to go.  So, why am I jealous? It is not because he can sing, trust me – no one wants to hear me do that, it is because even if I could, I would never get on that stage. I was in chorus too in middle school, I used to get in trouble for lip syncing before it was cool, before Beyonce was even born, and I believe I was ‘sick’ the night of the concert. I remember it reflecting poorly in my chorus grade. Now Danny has not questioned the fact that he will be singing in front of a few hundred people.  Not once has he mentioned he is nervous because is one of the only boys or because he is one of the kids that will have a (soloish – part of a trio). He just does it, because he wants to, and for that I am jealous. Great job Danny.
