The Voigtländer
April 9, 2015
My 1950’s Voigtländer – Vito B small finder model. I have no memory of how I got this camera. I have about 50 odd old cameras, some from relatives, friends, just picked up over the years. This one escapes me where it came from. Unlike many though, I have used it, I put a roll of film through it about 20 years ago and it worked. Can’t say that’s the case now. Shutter does not seem to want to work and it took me far too long to get the film door open… but I can say I was the last person to use it. Looks cool, lots of dials and markings, single lens, and solid metal build. Sits on a shelf now on display. Voigtländer is the oldest name in cameras, they were responsible for many photographic introductions such as the first built in electric flash in a compact camera and zoom lens for 35mm still cameras. Multiple companies have owned the name since the 1970s.
