A Historic Community Portrait Project is Coming to the Middle
I first visited Lebanon, Kansas in June 2026 as part of my Middle Ground photographic journey. During that trip, I was struck by the warmth of the community and the people I met along the way.
Documenting an entire town isn’t new to me—I previously ran a community portrait project capturing the people of my hometown of Medway, Massachusetts. I’ve always wanted to bring that same idea to another town, and Lebanon felt like the perfect place. Beyond its special position as the geographic center of the contiguous United States, it’s a community with a story worth telling—especially as our country marks its 250th year.
I am returning to Lebanon from August 27–30, 2026 to photograph every resident who wants to be included. 100% free to everyone. The complete collection will be compiled into a book—a living record of Lebanon that can live on for generations
