Another senior portrait for a class of 2021 student, this time Sophie from Medway High. The perfect afternoon for a session, especially when dogs join us.

It. was a great time tonight at the barn. Thank you to all who stopped by the studio for Valentine’s Night portrait. I even had a chance to get in front of the camera with my Valentine (though it looks more like Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Claus than Valentine’s Day). Maybe we will do this again, hope all had a great day.

I have some things coming where I need to be in a photo, I convince people to stand in front of my camera all the time. Man, I hate being on the other side. I truly think I do a great job making people feel comfortable while I take their photos, but I have no clue how to be comfortable myself. I like this one enough, it was the last of 16 taken, I think my wife was done pushing the button (thank you Barbie). I will let you know soon where this ends up.

Anna came home tonight for some photos, and the dogs were excited to be in the studio. Argus is not portrait ready.

I spent this beautiful spring morning having my photo taken by one of my personal favorite photographers, Corey Prince. This is not an easy thing to do, we have been trying to schedule this for awhile, even had to cancel due to weather last week. See this is not your normal portrait session, this was 1800 style. He took 3 shots in 2.5 hours, while I documented the process with my camera, 40 shots on my side. Set up the shot, get the focus lined up, then head to the darkroom to sensitize the plate, about 5 minutes later go back to the camera, verify the focus, add the plate, tell the subject not to move, expose the plate by removing the homemade lens cap, we were doing about 7 seconds with the light available. Cap the camera, pull the plate, head back to the darkroom, developer, bath, fixer, all under red light and watch the magic. Put in the drying rack which it will stay for about a day, then it will be scanned, then heated over a flame so the varnish can be added. I should get my final photos later this week.
In between all that, we were geeking out about the equipment and the process. I am trained as a film photographer, actually have taught and had my own dark room. Corey has taken it few steps further into the past and has learned from some of the master of this plate photography process. A great way to spend a morning. And for a person who really does not have many photos of themselves, nor really like having a photo taken, I will cherish these. Dan calls the one where I am looking away my Darwin impression.

I went back and read some of the blogs from past May 10ths, all about Dan on his birthday. They all have a theme, heading the right direction, can’t wait to see, older than his years, etc. All still true, the only thing I would add is I am so impressed with who he is, his future is here. Dan is an amazing young man, who has been true to himself for so long no matter what, and it is paying off. None of us ever really know what path we will end up on, at 16 I am confident to say Dan is enjoying the path no matter where it is going. Especially if that path includes his new guitar and an audience. Happy 16th Dan. We are proud of you.

My lovely wife, I was going to name this ‘Barbie at 507 months’ to match the theme of the last 2 photos, but you know… ladies and ages and all that. Beside this was one shot taken in the backyard, as the sun set. No studio lights, no flash, no backdrops. Just her, looking good.

My little friend Ally was back at the studio. The 10th month session. I look forward to our visit each month, two more and we got a whole set!

Isabella’s Debut
January 23, 2016
Just look at her… I have photographed her parents engagement, wedding, house, toys, announcement and today… Isabella Paige, just 3 weeks old. She made the trip out on this crappy day, to spend time with me at the studio. Few outfit changes, couple crying fits, some laughing and a toy truck, it was all prefect, just like her. Nice to meet you Bella. Congratulations Trish and Marc.

Magic of Christmas
December 5, 2015
Held some holiday card photo sessions today at the studio. So many new families, all smiling and getting ready for the season. It is an honor to be a small part of their holiday greetings going out to friends and families all over.

…and of course Star Wars Advent calendar Day #5
Mr. Ligor
August 8, 2015
This is my talented friend, Mr. James Ligor, he needed some quick photos for a project he is working on. He was one of my many sessions today. Families, head-shots, this studio session and a band, great day for timricephoto. Jim’s session was a blast, we talked for 5 minutes, we were on the same page instantly and I think we captured a look he was going for… and before I get the comments, yes ladies, Mr. Ligor is taken. Check out his music here and look for him fronting ZeroDrift sometime soon.

School Photos
August 3, 2015
I am offering School Photos, not trying to rush the kids back, one of the first things sent home are the School Photo Order Forms. Well, I am offering a new choice. For less money than most of the packages available, I can take photos of your kids. Instead of sending kids off on the bus hoping they will still be neat and clean for the school photos. Why not bring them to my studio in Medway, where you can prep them, see the shots I am taking and know what you will get. I am offering 2 poses, a minimum of 4 digital files – ready to be printed, shared or posted (you don’t get that in most School photo packages). Taken in 10 minute sessions -which I am booking 7 days a week. $50 for the session, I am offering a discount for siblings – half price for each additional sibling. Book sessions back to back with friends and get a photo with your kids friends for free. Contact me for more info. Thanks to Sophie and Chloe for being my sample subjects.
