Earlier this week, my wife lost her job, or as I like to put it — they lost her. Lay-offs, corporations, poor decisions, blah blah blah. I am a jaded man when it comes to big companies, so I really should not be listened to, but my wife is a rockstar employee.
We once worked in the same corporation years back, and it was always fun when our paths would overlap — someone would even ask one of us, “Are you guys really married?” Because she is awesome, and well, I am… not. ‘Not’ could be a lot of words that really don’t need to be in this post. I had an allergic reaction to corporate life — that is why I work for a company that has my name on it.
But this is not about me. This is about my wife, who, due to some poor decision-making by others, is looking for a job. So today she came into the studio and got new headshots — that’s what people do. I do a lot of “looking for a new job headshots.” Though most people pay, she did not, but I will let it slide.
When asked what I should share if someone asks what she did, I was given this statement: Senior Executive Assistant, a ton of experience supporting senior leaders with complex scheduling, global travel & expenses, and keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. Her office always sounded like a UN meeting, she is truly a global resource. You can see all the details on her LinkedIn, plus some incredible praise from people with a different last name, so it doesn’t feel so biased.
In short, if you have any insight, contacts, or leads that might help her find work, you would be doing the world a favor — because the alternative is me going back to corporate, and I can’t even finish that lie. I am never going back. They would never take me anyway.
