A quick update: twenty years in the making. Those who have been to my house know it is old, and we use the back door as the main entrance. Since the day we moved, some sort of work has needed to be done in the kitchen. To get in the house, you would walk into a “three-season porch.” A space that did nothing but take up space. There was no heat, no room, and no point; the only one in the family who liked it was Reyka. It was her perch; she stared at everyone that walked by. No matter the season, she begged to be out there. We decided we wanted to incorporate it into the kitchen a few years back. The fire in 2022 put the plan in motion. A walk-in pantry, a new entrance, and getting the refrigerator that sat in the kitchen taking up space, blocking light, a new home, and replacing a kitchen floor that was outdated 20 years ago when we bought the house.
Tucker Construction, who has built my bathroom (twice – thanks fire) and my incredible barn, was the only one we would use. Justin and his crew made the vision come to life. Starting right after the beginning of the year, his part wrapped up today with the counters being installed. Still some painting and updating of trim we will do ourselves; the build is done, and it is awesome. Start to finish is below; the only one disappointed is Reyka; she has found a new window, though, and will be fine.
