I am on a camera kick these days. Very nostalgic for film – more on that in an upcoming post. This camera pictured is not film. It is a Nikon D80. A Crop sensor, 10.2 megapixel digital camera. I bought it on a whim in July of 2008. I missed photography. I had stopped taking photos for a while and drove to Best Buy after work one day and bought it. It was on sale. It is my first ‘real’ digital camera. I learned a lot from this camera. The biggest lesson I learned was to research photography equipment. A whim is not a way to make a purchase like this. Three weeks later, the D90 was released, a camera many people would call the best of its kind at the time, though it really did not matter. I needed a way back into photography, and the D80 was that entry drug for me. Less than a year after purchase, it was replaced, and I knew what I needed to get for having the D80. It will always be on my shelf, for it did take the first dailypic, seen below.
