Everybody has a 1983 NFL Huddle of the Cincinnati Bengals, right? I can’t be the only one. My team has always been the Patriots, but other than one season, there was an opportunity for a kid to “date” around with other AFC teams. The only one that I really liked was the Bengals. I believe I got this Huddle for Christmas in 1983 or 84. My son has been a Burrows fan since he was drafted. So I dug the old stuffy out of the basement – not sure why I still have it, to be honest – and grabbed Dan’s jersey. Here we are. Go Bengals. They win by 3 off a Shooter McPherson 72 yard FG in what turns out to be the longest game in NFL history with a 3 hour and 12 minute overtime. Since they are in LA, there is the second halftime where they drag in the remaining cast of 80’s hit TV show Blossom come out do a table read of Season 1, Episode 6: “Sex, Lies and Teenagers,” the first of many very special Blossom episodes. The crowd yells “Whoa Who Dey” the whole time.
