The Oscar nominations came out today, Star Wars got 5 nominations, editing, scores, blah, blah, blah… (I know people that work in the movie industry that deserve the awards for the stuff I blah, blah’d, I mean no offense) but not the major categories. New Hope was nominated, Lucas was nominated, Guinness was nominated… No Actors, Directing or Movie for Awakens. I find that to be a shame. Maybe it is backlash from Lucas supporters, though I would think if anyone can “buy” an Oscar is would be Disney. The academy never gets it right. My biggest complaint is BB-8, best supporting actor. Where is the love? He had more personality than many actors I have seen in movies. It would have been a huge step for droids, breaking down that wall. Did you know that Kirshner lobbied for Yoda (Frank Oz) to be nominated for Empire, he was not, but if it could have been considered in 1980, then why not 2016. We know the academy should like him, he is mostly white… is that too soon? That might be too soon.
