A common question I get as a photographer is, “What is the best day for foliage?” Now, I would like to hope that Al Kaprielian – the only weatherman worth anything (I will not accept other opinions; look him up)- gets asked what the best aperture is to photograph trees because it makes just as much sense as asking me the first question. I can tell you when a year is good or bad. 2020: It was a great year for foliage, with the best colors I have seen. This year, it is not so good, drab and muted, but lasting longer. I assume drought and heat all come into play, but I take photos and can only submit photos as evidence that there is foliage. And I will capture it no matter if it is the best day or not.
