I never had the chance to meet Capt. Kyle R. Van De Giesen, I have met his friends, his family, his wife and even his 2 incredible children. Through all of them, I feel I know him. Over the year I have many photo jobs, weddings, portraits, events, but there is something about the one I did tonight that is extra special. I photographed the 5th Annual Cocktails for Courage , this was my 3rd time, and it as the biggest one yet. Kyle killed in action in Afghanistan in 2009, this event is held to raise money, to fund programs in his memory. I am privileged to start my memorial day weekend each year working this event, speaking and photographing veterans, their families and friends. Happy Memorial Day to you all, take a moment and think of Kyle, his family and all the others who this weekend is truly honoring. Be safe.
