The Good and The Bad
December 16, 2015
I went on a rant (very unlike me I realize) read it here, October 30, 2012, the day Disney purchased Star Wars. I was upset, I love Star Wars, I have my whole life. I hated the prequels, they hold no value, but they never tarnished my movies. The Empire Strikes Back is the first movie I saw in the theater, it to this day is my favorite movie. I was sad when the credits rolled, I knew I needed more. I became obsessed. I grew up in a time where after Jedi we all knew we would never see our friends again. And I think collectively we were OK with it. Then October 2012, Disney. I was upset. I have tickets to see the movie Friday. I expect it to be very good, maybe even great. I am not sure anything can cause the reaction that Empire did when I was 6, but it would be unfair to expect that. I get to see my friends. That’s what it feels like, I get to catch up with some people I knew when I was a kid. I hope they are well, I will be happy to see them. This is happening because Disney purchased Star Wars, and made me upset. I get conflicted, am I grateful Disney bought it? I guess I have to be. Do I like Disney… hahaha, nope. I am excited to take the family to the theater and see the movie with friends. After that, maybe I will need to thank a mouse, but still…
