My newest camera case – a 2025 Toyota 4Runner. Picked up earlier this week, I’ve been waiting for months for it to be available, though did not think it would be this quickly. My last camera case, the Tacoma, was great and will be missed, but it was time for an upgrade. I lucked out with timing, <see beating tariffs>, fell in love with the color when I saw it in person, and had a great experience at Bernardi Toyota in Framingham. Ask for Trevor if you need to purchase a car.

I plan on putting all the miles I can on this beauty. I already have a big project for it in 2026; in the meantime, she will get me where I need to go, carrying cameras and equipment as I need. Her name is Sky, as in the SkyRunner. Maybe it’s time to tweak the blue in the trp logo to match her?

On a rainy Monday, I bought a new toy. It is a beautiful Heritage Blue (Hex #5d96bc) that looks good in the rain. It will look great in the sun.

Dan got a new ride today, his first “new to him” car, the last one was a hand me down from Anna – and is no longer useful as a driving vehicle due to age. The new ride’s name is Keanu, and it will be the gig-mobile, perfect for getting the guitars and sound system to shows.

A new addition, a 2017 Subaru Crosstrek, joined the family today. I am saying goodbye to both the Tacoma and the Mini Cooper. Today the Tacoma left, I had that truck longer than any car I ever owned. So many family trips, over 100K of my own miles in 8 years. It will be missed but it was time. I have not owned a new as in ‘all the miles will belong to me’ car in over 20 years. I paid $4500 for a brand new Geo Metro once, I am pretty sure that does not count. My camera cost more than that.

Due to what might be one of the best product placement in any movie, at least for my generation, I have wanted a Toyota Truck since I was 12 years old. I realize it is not black, it is not a 1984 SR5, hell, it is not even clean… I need a Biff. But I have been driving one for over 10 years. Back to the Future is the reason. I choose it over a Delorean. I had the chance to sit in a real Delorean this summer, no way a guy my size, and with my knees, should ever entertain the thought of that car. It was the perfect day to change to my 2015 CA plate, though I have to admit, the thought that the future in Back to the Future will now be in the past depresses the 12 year old I was.
