This is Lego Thor, behind him is Jack. Jack owns Thor. Young Jack is a friend of mine, who happens to have a very impressive Lego collection.  In the past I have had the honor of photographing a few of them.  Lego Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Thor and the Hulk, and the Flash to name a few. Most I have had to photograph in his presence, some I was able to borrow. Now “borrowing” is a big deal to a young kid, I remember what it was like to not know where some of my favorite things were when I was his age. The beauty of being a kid is… if I want to play with my Flash Lego Figure at 2:59 on a Thursday, well I can… unless it was borrowed. That could ruin a whole day, or at least 5 minutes until I found Lego Thor, or Lego Spider-man, or Lego Batman, even Lego Stan Lee. Jack has been very generous with his sharing. I have a few I need to photograph for this coming #toywednesday and get them back to him. In the meantime enjoy a few shots below that Jack allowed me to photograph, in his room, on the foot-board of his bed, under watchful supervision. I need to earn trust, Jack is a wise little man.

This was supposed to be the dailypic yesterday, these are my young friend Jack’s toys. He allowed me 30 seconds of time to shoot them. After that he was concerned on how I was using them, as a collector of toys myself, I understood his stress. I had to make it quick, he gave me Flash for even less time. All is good, we got them back to Jack safely, then I forgot to post them and went and shot Homer Batman. Good thing he is like 6 years old and it is highly unlikely he reads my blog.

This is the crew I spent my day with, well, them and 100’s of smiling (and some crying) kids. Free Comic Book Day gets bigger every year. It might sound like a made up thing, but far from it. Held the first Friday of every May, this year over 60 free comic books in all genres were handed out. I have helped out at Rubber Chicken Comics for years on FCBD. This year we had a record amount of cos-players ready to entertain the kids.  Spider-Man was the big hit, not far behind was the custom built and wearable 6 and a half-foot tall Lego Batman. We had Chewbacca, Stormtroopers, 3 Poison Ivys, Catwoman, Thor, Bullseye, Green Power Ranger (another huge hit) and more. I took photos and printed them on the spot all for charity, we raised a couple hundred dollars for the Jimmy Fund.
