It’s a big week for Dan. He turned 24 on Saturday, and as of 3:15 pm today, he is finished with Bridgewater State. He is starting his search for his first post-college job as a music teacher. He will walk the stage this Friday and get his Bachelor’s Degree at Gillette. For his birthday, he got a new camera. My kids have great photogenic eyes, and over the years have stepped in and out of the bug. It is funny that over the last couple of months, separately, both of them have told me they missed taking photos and wanted to get back into using real cameras. Above is Dan’s first photo taken with his new camera. I can’t wait to see where he heads and look forward to his photos.

Today was all about Reykjavik. Mostly photographed with film. It was a great change of pace, being a tourist for the day, but in a city I feel very comfortable in, knowing my way around very well. I shot with my Hasselblad and Widelux for many of the pictures I took, which were a lot less by design. Chose my subjects carefully instead of just shooting. I love the speed of film. It slows me down, I truly enjoyed the day doing street photography. I talked to a ton of people. Many were willing to let me take their portraits – future post if they come out. If they don’t, we never talk about it again. One of those people was Phil Keoghan, host of The Amazing Race and Tough as Nails (the season finale is tonight). He could not have been nicer. We talked a bit about my cameras and Iceland. He was there traveling with his Dad. He even posed for a portrait on Skólavörðustígur Street in the center of Reykjavik with the Hallgrímskirkja church in the background. We grabbed a selfie, too – less pressure in that phone shot. It will be a week or so before I know that film portrait comes out. Fingers crossed, he said it had been quite some time since anyone took a film portrait of him.

I am not in here often, and I was not supposed to be here now. I expected a cool photo of an old window from outside the second floor of the Grand Ballroom of Milford Town Hall. Phone, wide-angle lens, timer, and long arm, pointed up, but when I looked at the first version of this attempt, unexpectedly, the back of my fat head was in it. So why not one more with an off-to-the-distance dumb look – like I did not know the camera was there, but I knew, like I said, it was in my hand, even I can’t fool me.
