Busy weekend, the painting portion of the renovations in the studio, in between watching Wild Card football. One more coat to go on the new walls in preparation for the new floor arriving this week. Now off to Gillette to watch the game live – not on the sideline this time, in the stands, but in the good seats (thanks, Jeff). I am sure I will get some photos for tomorrow’s dailypic. Let’s go Pats.

Glacier National Park was the destination today. Montana’s “Going to the Sun Road.” Plenty of photos to come, but this is a quick one of Marla (I hope I remember that correctly). She was on the side of the road, painting away. We talked a bit. She is from Connecticut and drove out here too. Yesterday was too windy for her to paint outside, so she sat in her car, but today is perfect. The people you meet. It was a pleasure speaking with her and she let me take her portrait. Her painting looked great.

No sports, no birds, nothing fancy. I took this ice storm of a day and painted the living room. It was way past due, been 19 years of the same faded walls. Now I am very good at painting, used to do it for money, but it is easily one of the top things I hate to do. Whenever I need a room painted, I think this will be the time I finally hire a pro, I know so many great ones too, but I always end up doing it myself. There is that satisfaction of staring at it when it is done—well, not done, still a second coat to go, but I did stare at it. I also am at the age where I kept thinking, “how great this paint is. It is going on the walls so good. Smooth, I need to tell people about it.” Sad old man thoughts, but really this is good paint, consider yourself told. My wife picked the color, and it is called Dinner Party by Benjamin Moore, looks fantastic. A lovely historic rich color for our old house. The best part was feeling like Dexter after a kill room session as I cleaned the brushes in the sink with the “blood” swirling down the drain… I guess that immature thought balances out the old man “nice paint” comment. It did look like a murder clean-up. Murder Party Red AF.
