<p>In ten years I have used 15 different cameras, multiple lenses, thousands of subjects, even 4 or so platforms to share, the only thing consistent in the dailypic is my eye. Excluding the occasional guest photographers posts (Thank you, Anna, Dan, Barbie <g class="gr_ gr_14 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Punctuation only-ins replaceWithoutSep" id="14" data-gr-id="14">and</g> Ray) my eye was the first thing to see the photos. Without my <g class="gr_ gr_13 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Punctuation only-ins replaceWithoutSep" id="13" data-gr-id="13">eye</g> I would not even be a photographer. I have often said I saw photos long before I took them. That is why when I stopped taking photos in the early 2000&#8217;s it was tough. I have been part of an industry that has morphed a few times over the last 25 years. Trained as a film photographer, processed negatives for a living, worked for Kodak, developed my own photos by hand, taught others how to use a darkroom at a college level, only to quit taking photos when digital wedged itself into my comfort zone. </p>

<p>I missed capturing what I saw, so I decided to relearn, or more so, change tools. Put down the film, picked up a memory card. Went from Minolta to Nikon and it turned out my eye did not care. My vision was still there, simply the means to capture the light changed. So started the dailypic on October 1, 2009, one photo a day for I had planned a week, then a month, then until the end of the year&#8230; now today, I hit ten years. Over the last month, I have been compiling the photos to share on one page. 3652 photos, there are some really bad ones, there are less great ones and maybe most are good enough. Some are meant to share my day more than hang on a wall, some are art, all of them together are my history over the last decade. Like any portion of history, there is good and bad and it is for other to interprt. </p>

<p>Many times, specifically in the earlier years, I would debate if the project ended when September 30th came around. Last few less, at 7, 8, 9 years why would I stop this close to ten, a nice round number. So, here I am year ten complete and I have no desire to stop. Maybe one day it will, and that will be it, and that would be fine. I will always have ten completed. The exercise is part of my life, I do have days I stress over it, I have days I can not wait to share the photo, then there are those days I have convinced myself I am only doing this for me, in my head, there is no one on the other end. Even this post, I feel I am talking to me. The Dailypic was a great idea, a fun project and something I am incredibly proud of. I have a living diary, a time <g class="gr_ gr_252 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="252" data-gr-id="252">capse</g> of my work, an education in photography, and most of all, a collection of photos that many I may have been missed without this reason to see them. </p>

<p>Want to see more, well they are all below at the link, separated by year. I can see the growth, the evolution of my process and some are embarrassing to look back at now, some of the very ones that make me cringe I was so proud of at the time. At the least maybe this inspires someone. If there is something you want to get better at, just do it. Maybe ten years is excessive but I can tell you I am never looking for an excuse to do this, though now and then I am looking for an excuse to stop. As of now, I have not found a good enough excuse, so see you tomorrow for the <g class="gr_ gr_342 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar only-ins replaceWithoutSep" id="342" data-gr-id="342">start</g> of year 11. </p>

<p>Thank you for looking.</p>
