It is always a honor to start my Memorial Day weekend photographing Cocktails for Courage, a cocktail party, raffle, and auction to raise funds for the Captain Kyle R. Van De Giesen Memorial Award Fund. This fund was established in honor of Capt. Kyle Van De Giesen, who was killed in Afghanistan on October 26, 2009.

For the last 4 years, I have been photographing Cocktails for Courage, a great event that raises money in the memory of Capt. Kyle R. Van De Giesen. Kyle was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2009, this event is used to fund programs in his memory. It is a privilege to be part of it each year.

I never had the chance to meet Capt. Kyle R. Van De Giesen, I have met his friends, his family, his wife and even his 2 incredible children. Through all of them, I feel I know him. Over the year I have many photo jobs, weddings, portraits, events, but there is something about the one I did tonight that is extra special. I photographed the 5th Annual Cocktails for Courage , this was my 3rd time, and it as the biggest one yet. Kyle killed in action in Afghanistan in 2009, this event is held to raise money, to fund programs in his memory. I am privileged to start my memorial day weekend each year working this event, speaking and photographing veterans, their families and friends. Happy Memorial Day to you all, take a moment and think of Kyle, his family and all the others who this weekend is truly honoring. Be safe.

For the second year in a row I started my Memorial Day Weekend running a photo booth at an incredible event: Cocktails for Courage, a cocktail party, raffle, and silent auction to raise funds for the Captain Kyle R. Van De Giesen Memorial Award Fund. This fund was established in honor of Capt. Kyle Van De Giesen, who was killed in Afghanistan on October 26, 2009. The event is organized by 12 Occasions, an event planning duo specializing in fundraising. I have worked a few of their events over the last year and can not recommend them enough.
