My daughter’s car has a CD player, stop and consider how horrible this is to a teenager. So I am trying to help her old school it. I explained these are the things that fed the iTunes we have, I used to sell them for years – they were made to last forever. I did not realize that meant in boxes in the basement. This is about 1/2 my collection, she found some stuff that was “listenable” apparently. She even took some suggestions. I was so proud, on top on the stack was Dinosaur Jr. ‘Where You Been’ – turned out it was a mistake. Such a shame no one would expect that to be blasting from her car at a red light.  Good news it will be from mine in the morning.

A new addition to the collection. From Camerapedia: Designed by Walter Dorwin Teague, this large box for film size 616 was manufactured by Kodak in the United States between 1938 and 1942. It is built very firmly of metal. It was a larger version of the Kodak Six-20 Brownie Special.

I get asked a lot -“Do you take photos of your family on trips?” I do, I tend to share more of the landscapes, but there are many photos of my family.  And since I am sharing, I will admit to owning/using a selfie-stick for some phone photos.  I have embraced this tool and use it properly.  One shot now and then to capture the whole family, I do not walk around with it and shoot EVERY possible photo in the world using it… not that I am judging, much. Anyway, I have one, I love it and I have plenty of memories I may not have had otherwise.  Here are some favorite selfie-stick and some stick-less photos from the Maine trip of the people I enjoy traveling with.

July 25, 2015

2 days ago we decided to to head to Maine for the weekend. Not like us, we are planners by nature, so this was a big deal. The decision led to… well, plans. What part, what would we do, all that stuff.  I had one request, I wanted to see the Nubble Lighthouse, I wanted to take a photo of it. I saw it once many years ago when I worked up here, but those days there was no dailypic, there was no camera in my hand. So, past that, I was good for anything. We set a course to Portland Head Light, that led us to 2 Lights, then Bug Light, then a Portland Harbor Cruise, then the most expensive dinner the 4 of us have ever had at the Lobster Cove in York – it was worth it. Then at 10pm, in complete darkness, I made it to Nubble Light, while the family was in a food coma in the car, I mounted the camera to the tripod, found the cable release, made my way by flashlight to the rocky shore across from the light. One test for focus, then one 4 minute, 30 second exposure later, I left with this shot. I consider the trip a success, and I still have another day to go. I added one more shot I got from the cruise of  Portland Head Light.

This is Ken, Ken works for Medway Cable Access and is doing a business series on Medway Businesses called My Medway. Tonight was timricephoto’s turn.  He came to the studio, interviewed me, shot the gallery and took video of my class. I am not a fan of being on this side of the camera, but Ken made it easy.  I will share when the video is done. Check out the Medway Cable Access page here.

Back to the Future
July 22, 2015

Tonight was movie night in the park. Medway Cable Access puts on movies each Wednesday night, and tonight timricephoto (me) was the sponsor. So, like last year with Goonies, I stuck with the 80’s theme… Back to the Future! We had an actual Delorean there from the great guys at 88mph Time Machine (check out their site). They have a perfect replica of Doc Brown’s time machine. We took tons of photos with the movie goers, had a cookout and I even got to sneak into the Delorean for a second – it took me even longer to get out, not really built for giants. Awesome night, it is so cool to watch Back to the Future on a huge screen while a Delorean is lit up 15 feet away. I hope everyone that came had a great time. Special thanks to Bob and the crew from Medway Cable Access for all the work they put into these events. Cannot wait to pick another 80’s movie for next year.
